About PolenMadrid
What is PolenMadrid?
PolenMadrid is an informational website that displays pollen levels in the Community of Madrid. It is designed for people with pollen allergies who need to check daily levels quickly and easily.
It provides updated data from 11 sampling stations, email alerts, a pollination calendar, interactive maps and health content. All in four languages: Spanish, English, French and Italian.
Who is behind it?
PolenMadrid is a project by Color Vivo, a company founded in 2000 by David Carrero Fernández-Baillo, a tech entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in the internet industry.
Carrero is cofounder of Stackscale, a European cloud infrastructure provider (IaaS) with data centres in Madrid and Amsterdam, part of Grupo Aire since 2022. Through Color Vivo he develops projects aimed at making useful public information accessible to citizens.
Data source
Data comes from the Palynological Network of the Community of Madrid (Red Palinocam), which has 11 pollen sampling stations distributed across the region. Data is published as open data on the Community of Madrid portal.
Measurements are performed through optical microscopy analysis, so they are not real-time automated data. Data is updated daily between January and June, and weekly the rest of the year.
